What causes 80% of applications to be rejected isn't the documentation—it's the structure of the digital file.
María Elena had been preparing everything for three months. She gathered her bank statements, obtained an invitation letter, and renewed her passport. But when she tried to upload her documents to the SRE website, the system rejected them. Time and again. Weeks later: an administrative hold. A wait of 3 to 6 months.
María Elena wasn't alone. This is the case for 8 out of 10 Venezuelan applicants.

👉 I want to watch the video for freeThe answer isn't found in physical documents or the applicant's history. It lies in something much more subtle and technical: the engineering of the digital file.
The SRE platform operates with extremely strict automatic filters. A single technical error triggers an immediate block. There is no warning. There is no second chance. It’s a door that closes.
This is the technical hurdle that causes more applications to fail than any other: the "compression funnel."
The platform requires that all your supporting documents be saved as PDF files, with a maximum size of 1 MB per document.
⚠ The megabyte trap
A complete financial file can run to dozens of pages. Compressing it to less than 1MB using free tools degrades the resolution to the point of illegibility. The consul cannot validate blurry information. Bank stamps disappear. And the system flags this as a substantive violation. An illegible file is equivalent to a nonexistent file.
In the past, the consul would reserve judgment until the in-person interview. Today, the decision is based primarily on the digital application. The in-person interview is no longer the key factor; what matters is the quality of your online application.
If your application doesn't meet the technical requirements right from the start, it will be rejected before anyone even sees your name.
There is a distinction that very few people are aware of, and one that invalidates citations even after they have been confirmed:
📋 NUT Application vs. Regular Visas
NUT: For cases with prior authorization from the INM (family reunification or employment by a Mexican company).
Standard Visas: For tourism, business, or study without INM authorization.
Selecting the wrong category means that consular staff will not be able to assist you. The appointment will be canceled, and the process will return to square one. Professional assessment is not optional—it is essential.
A poorly designed profile can undermine the entire process. Errors at this stage are often invisible until it's too late.
Once the office (Caracas) has been selected, any subsequent changes may cause conflicts in the database that could lock the entire profile.
NUT or Regular Visas. This decision leaves no room for guesswork. Make sure you understand all the options available to you before proceeding.
Every character must match exactly. A missing accent, a missing middle name, or a different order can trigger the automatic rejection system.
The document must be compressed using professional techniques that preserve the resolution and evidential value of each page. This is where most people fall short.
Many Venezuelans arrive at the process with perfectly valid documents and leave with a six-month suspension because of a blurry PDF. Having valid physical documents is no longer enough.
At MIGRALAW, we have assisted hundreds of Venezuelan families. We know exactly where every technical pitfall lies and how to fortify your application before the system has a chance to reject it. We call this Legal and Technological Engineering.
